Perhaps I’m a little late? Oh well, I have so much to share about my time living abroad in Florence, Italy so far!

My blog took quite the hiatus (3 years to be exact) but living abroad and finding myself spending a lot of time in cafes has reignited my interest in writing here.

Back at the end of August as I was packing up my college apartment in East Boston I was not only packing up my stuff to move out, but I was packing to move to Italy. It was going to be quite the transition but all of the people around me were so supportive and cheering me on every step of the way.

I studied abroad in Florence in the spring of 2020 and… well to say the very least that did not go as expected. I was sent home only one month into my time living here and I knew that my time was not finished. I kept in contact with some people I had met who worked for this travel company and as my college graduation approached I decided to apply. After a few rounds of interviews, I was all ready to take the leap and move to Italy.

The first few weeks here were hectic and soooo so hot. Italy in August is an absolute no-go for me!! But after the first couple weeks I was able to adjust, get close with my coworkers and roommates and really lean into Italian living.

For my job we had to find and meet American students studying abroad because

this is who our target audience is for selling trips. That meant for those first weeks we were out on the streets all day passing out flyers, talking with students, and more times than not, being rejected by students. At nights we would all go out to student bars and continue to network and meet more students but it was definitely a tiring lifestyle!

These days it’s a bit more relaxed as we just have to be posting on our Instagram stories about what trips are running and message with students to answer any questions they have, much more

up my alley personally!

I’ve had quite a few adventures so far during my time and want to make sure I document and reflect on all of those on here:)
